The cure for boredom

Discover something neu.

We live in an amazing, interconnected world, and it’s never been easier to find ideas that can spark creativity. If you’re like us, your appetite for knowledge is insatiable. Even so, it’s still easy to fall into ruts, returning to the same familiar sources that have worked before, thinking they’ll work again. That’s when creative blocks often pop up.

It’s time to break from the familiar. Let’s journey down fresh paths together. We’ll look beyond our borders and tap into fascinating resources around the world.

Part of our methodology is based on The Artist’s Way, by Julia Cameron. Here are some of our favorite techiques to keep our creative wells full and vibrant:

  • we encourage all clients and colleagues to write morning pages every day to clear out the cobwebs and clutter that can clog our thinking.

  • we promote weekly artist dates: two-hour personal adventures that push us to break out of our routines.

  • we experiment with brainstorming techniques, and tools like Mindmapping, to spark fresh thinking and organize the flow of ideas.

  • we host community forums where we post the latest bits of inspiration, thinking, and controversy, sharing the cool stuff we each find along the way.

When you’re inspired, you’re more inspiring.

Let’s get started.

Curiosity vs. Fundamentalism

“A fundamentalist is a person who considers whether a fact is acceptable to his religion before he explores it; as opposed to a curious person who explores first and then considers whether or not he wants to accept the ramifications.

“A curious person embraces the tension between his religion and something new, wrestles with it and through it, and then decides whether to embrace the new idea or reject it.”

-Seth Godin, in Tribes

Coursework

We periodically organize The Artist’s Way workshops, in which we go through the 12-week course of creative exercises together. The program can be a bit daunting on your own, but with a group it’s much easier and more fun.

If you’re interested in the next workshop, please contact us.
