Under new rules from the Mayor’s Office, draconian restrictions are soon to go in place that affect everyone with a camera.
Any group of 2 or more people using a camera in a single public location for more than 30 minutes (including setup and breakdown time) must get a city permit and $1 million in liability insurance. Any group of 5 or more people using a tripod for more than 10 minute must also get a city permit and $1 million in liability insurance.
No more time-lapse photography, no more waiting for the right shot or the right light or a break in traffic, without a permit and insurance. And who knows what the cops are going to do with yet another means to harass New Yorkers.
