Vlad and I went to see director Darren Aronofsky speak about his new buzz film ‘The Wrestler” last night at The Apple Store in Soho. The trailer and clips he us showed were truly compelling. What most impressed me, however, was Aronofsky’s commitment to using Micky Rourke for the starring role — despite the studio considering Rourke ” a negative” and offering him more money to use Nicolas Cage. Aronofsky kept his artistic integrity in check and stuck with Rourke. Hats off to Darren Aronofsky!
